citizens around the world are fighting for public water

Water: Berlin gives the example of Andrew
Bertaglia
The referendum on Sunday evening ended with a victory that came close to unanimity: the 98.2 percent of citizens want the Berliner Wasserbetriebe to be managed by the City
Even the water returns to Berlin public. To decide on a referendum that asked the citizens of Berlin, Sunday, Feb. 13, to say "yes" or "no" to the proposal to remove the water management to private.
If in Italy you must still vote on the issue of privatization of water services, and if in a city like Paris has already been decided a long time to make them public again, today also decided that Berlin can no longer associate speculation and profits to a good of primary importance as water. Berliners have in fact voted "yes" to the referendum for the annulment of the partial privatization of water services management company. An overwhelming victory to say the least: more than 678,000 voters, 98.2% voted in favor of a U-turn, claiming even greater transparency of contracts.
"an essential commodity like water can not be a source of profit, we want to come back in public hands," said the spokesman of the organizing committee, Thomas Rodek. And it will. That the referendum was a victory for Berlin, yes they need at least 616,571, and came 665,713. Andreas Fuchs, the cashier of the referendum committee, said: "We had hoped, but I did not expect more, given the low turnout in the morning." He adds: "It is proof that much can be done with few resources." Very few resources, since the Committee had only 12 000 euro to organize everything: money derived entirely from donations (and the organizers of the failed referendum on religion in school two years ago had raised hundreds of thousands of euro).
The request was for the full publication of the contract by which the German capital in 1999, trying to raise cash, he decided to sell the companies RWE and Veolia 49.9% of the water services comunali, la Berliner Wasserbetriebe. And to charge a cubic meter of water today than in Berlin (5.82 €).
On a Sunday between April 15 and June 15, Italians will be able to deliver on the question regarding the termination of the Ronchi Decree, by which was established in 2009 that the water service will no longer be managed by public companies, but only given to companies that are either totally private, or privately owned for at least 40%. The second question concerns the cancellation of the "Environmental Code", a rule providing for a share of profit on the fee for water service, the so-called "return capital investment. "
According to the detractors of the Italian referendum on the water "privatization can only improve the quality of services." For supporters of the referendum in Berlin, however, following the partial privatization of water services municipal water prices have increased by 35% and ranks among the highest of any other German city. In Berlin, a cubic meter of water costs € 5.12, 3.26 in Cologne. Let's keep in mind, when this spring we will go to the polls. Dorothea Harlin also reminds us of the referendum committee in Berlin, which stresses the importance of international success at the polls on February 13, recalling that "Not only Berlin, but citizens around the world are fighting for water."

The article we are reporting today from a "water carrier", our attentive reader, and refers to post http://comitatocittadinomazara.blogspot.com/2011/02/berlino-dice-nein-allacqua- privatizzata.html

"Rabdomantiko" the new album by Yo Yo a song dedicated to the theme of water common good

I fiumi sono guardiani
che dai monti fino al mare
cercano una storia furiosa
ben oltre la riva

fanno tremare di paura
ch non rispetta la natura
e chi pensa solo ad arricchirsi
senza domandare prima il permesso e poi
scusa

CALL STILL LOVE WINS VECCHIONI THE FESTIVAL OF SAN REMO 2011

così belli a gridare nelle piazze

chiamami ancora amore
chiamami sempre amore
che questa maledetta notte
dovrà pur finire
perché la riempiremo noi da qui
di musica e di parole
chiamami ancora amore
chiamami sempre amore
in questo disperato sogno
tra il silenzio e il tuono
defend humanity this
also remained one man
call still love
call still love
call always love
because the ideas are like butterflies
you can not take away the wings
because the ideas are like stars
not go out the storm
because ideas are rumors of mother
who believed they had lost
and are like the smile of God
in spit of this universe
call me again love
call always love
this cursed night
will even finish
because we fill it from here
of music and lyrics
chiamami ancora amore
chiamami sempre amore
continua a scrivere la vita
tra il silenzio e il tuono
difendi questa umanità
che è così vera in ogni uomo
chiamami ancora amore
chiamami ancora amore
chiamami sempre amore
chiamami ancora amore
call me love always
this cursed night
will even finish
because we fill it from here
of music and words

Fuse For Belkin Tunebase

right to drinking water . Whoever wins takes the

Nell'ultimo consiglio comunale (come riportato dal Giornale di Sicilia alla pagina della Chronicle of Mazara del Vallo di Saturday, February 12) was discussed the very serious problem, unsolved for years, that grips our city.

What is this? The water distribution mains in the town of Mazara del Vallo - as is apparent from analysis that over time our committee has made, that the study by SOGESID presented in Trapani and back in October 3, 2008 then the data provided by ARPA to the municipality of Mazara del Vallo - is polluted by nitrate in excess of the limits of the law.

To raise the city and the body responsible for ensuring the health of this national committee has, with various activities and in particular notes, writings, televised debates , complaints, repeated interventions in municipal councils open attempts to alert the authorities responsible for territorial control and the health of the city because they enable to seek the causes of the phenomenon and identify those responsible (with all the consequences of the law) so as to solve the serious problem.

these dangers, indisputably established, if they have added another even more serious, for which the ARPA, since 17.06.2009, with a letter of formal notice invited the mayor of Mazara del Vallo, Mayor of Campobello di Mazara, and the sole director of the ATO TP2 because we will avert.

is the presence of leachate in groundwater beneath the landfill consortium of district Misiddi / Campana.

Again this committee in place of the authorities who should have done, on April 29, 2010 made public the analytical data, on request, were provided by the Belize Environment. And he did so through his blog that the statements made in a television interview tele8 interview with local radio station.

seems that no such action has been put in place, since none of the authorities that they would had to carry out works of rehabilitation has communicated anything.

now an adviser, forgetting all the information that was provided, reports the problem as if it were new.

Although this negligent behavior scares us, having hope that in future we may resolve the long standing problem, we welcome and hope that the action, the board has taken the discussion referred to, can contribute to a real, necessary and urgent solution to the problem that must be addressed as a whole.

"An Africa with a great desire to live" from Dakar Father Alex Zanotelli

Dakar February 7, 2011

An Africa with a great desire to live

The first business day of the Forum struggled to leave. There have been major catch with the University Cheikh Anta Diop - the place of Dakar where he held the World Social Forum - which led to delays in scheduling meetings and, as in the debates.
Only about noon we had in our hands the official program of the day, with nearly 250 events listed. Physically unable to participate at all. Each of the Comboni tried to find the meeting that the most stimulating.
Especially on quell'insistere by the Tunisians, that theirs is a revolution against neo-colonialism, with the aim of radicalizing to stop paying the debt with the countries and the Western economic-financial potentates. Many of those present wondered if the time has come even in black Africa to follow that example.

not forget that this day of the Forum was dedicated to Africa. I could see how much emotion aroused in meeting the memory of two legendary figures in recent African history like that of Thomas Sankara, President of Burkina Faso and martyr of Patrice Lumumba, Congo's martyr president. Many people remember are have also been some legendary personalities of Senegal, President Leopold Senghor, Alioune Diop, founder of the journal Presence Africaine, the great thinker and Cheikh Anta Diop, whom I personally interviewed in Dakar in 1980. "Remember father Alex," he said on the door, leave, "that if Africa does not regain its past, will never have a future." A warning, this is so important for Africa that lives in this difficult moment.
And that is what has returned also the former President of Brazil Lula, hosted by the Forum and the Senegalese President A. Wade.

The water runs low

Lista dei perché the water must be from public
http://www.acquabenecomune.org/raccoltafirme/
• The water must be public because everyone is made to 70% water
• Water must be public because it is the most precious common good in the world
• The water must be public because it has no color
• The water must be public because people die without you
• The water must be public because it is a right for all, otherwise it is a privilege
• The water must be public because if the water is all ... everyone should take care
• Water must be public because if the water is a few ... it will only the interest of those few
• The water must be public because they have already asked a million and half of Italian citizens
• The water must be public because in democratic and civil rights, the privatization of water is illegal and prohibited
• The water must be public because today in Italy there are 128 municipalities with water outlawed, outlaws
because with the amount of arsenic above the tolerable limit, and that water happens to be private.
• The water must be public because it is not a commodity ... and if one is opposed to the water is a public good and all, is
because he has strong personal interests and not very clear
• The water must be public because today, as in Italy in the World, private companies increase rates at will and, if you can not pay
, you close the tap ... even if you're an elderly person, even if you are poor, even if you need
• The water must be public because it IS! Here, WATER WELL OF EVERYBODY ... should not even be questioned!
• The water must be public because the clouds, rain and the glaciers have never been masters and water
that connects all human beings and all over the planet through its cycle.
• The water must be public because we all have the right to water and all have a duty to protect her.
• The water must be public because it is exchangeable and can not be treated as a commodity.
• The water must be public because an individual thinks about his profit, not to the common
• The water must be public because the opposite of "public" is the term "secret" secrets on the water and there is none must be

• The water must be public corporations exist only because people do not people just counters ... and bills
• The water should be public because otherwise they will fight all future wars for water
• The water must be public because the water is the blood of the earth
• The water must be public because they speculate on the water is unacceptable in a civilized society
• The water must be public because the water is a shared ... a law ... and not a commodity!
• The water must be public because it is life and life can not have a price
• Water must be public water because you ... and I am
• Water must be public because it is written Water ... Law and Democracy

The Ialia has awakened! As the water flows change ... and do not realize

open letter to Emilio Molinari, the Manifesto published

Open Letter

Water and .... after the referendum.
growing outrage against Berlusconi becomes mobilization of thousands of people.
This is the awakening of participation, although perhaps we should ask ourselves: how all this affects the culture of the people right?
manifestations multiply: women, intellectuals like Saviano, Ginsborg, Echo, etc. .. Zagrebelsky journalists, civil society networks, the debate is on and now has a single content: Berlusconi sent home after you see ..... .
A bit disconcerting 'this removal.
Why the opposition, the Democratic Party in Casini / Fini, while floundering around in agreements and sides to free the country from the Rais and while Berlusconi gives signals to the opposition, all put at the center of the debate, programs and alliances, a single and precise content: liberalization.
Indeed, each accusing the other of liberalization have slowed down.
Berlusconi on the Corriere della Sera on January 31 turns to the PD: ... since the Secretary of the PD in the past has been sensitive to the issue of liberalization Bersani ..... I propose to act together in forms to be discussed in Parliament .... a bipartisan plan whose centerpiece is the reform of Article. 41 of the Constitution (which recita: l'iniziativa economica privata è libera.
A culture that has fueled the idea that public policy and things are corrupt and incompetent that only the private sector, managers, entrepreneurs can manage and govern the country as a company .... a culture that could only produce a Berlusconi.
's why we think the later will not work .. the water is the "after" that can not be ignored.
Emilio Molinari.

"Do not snatch the dream of a referendum on the water"

PRESS

referendum campaign at the start.

During the press conference were made two requests to the government: that of an immediate moratorium on the rules of decision to privatize the water up to the referendum and to consolidation of the maturity of the referendum with the elections next spring . He was presented the logo of the campaign, chosen through a competition of ideas among activists and an online survey which was attended by over 10 thousand people and produced by Michele Giugni, the Committee of Prato. Finally, I presented the upcoming events organized by the organizing committee, as the Water Festival planned in the city of Sanremo Liguria on the same days of the Festival Italian song and as the weekend of 5 and 6 February when, in many Italian cities, and efforts will be made banquets for the self part that provides, among other things, the repayment of the assistance signed by the citizens once the referendum committees has received the reimbursement election.

Margaret Ciervo, also of the referendum committees, insisted on the extraordinary political significance of a referendum "has already set two records on the one hand was the most subscribed in the history of the Republic, the other is not promoted by the first parties but directly from social realities, community and citizens. "

Stefano Rodota, lawyer and among the drafters of the referendum questions pointed out that there is a "need to re-enable a public debate on the commons, from water, to which the parties shall not escape."

Father Alex Zanotelli Ronchi thundered against the law, calling it "a real curse", claiming as the movement of water in Italy, has already achieved remarkable results and now as "we have to win the referendum."

Public Water: Court reopens to the public in all areas

from Il Manifesto, Sunday, January 30, 2011 Public Water
the court reopens to the public in all areas of Ugo Mattei

30 / 1 / 2011

The filing of judgments of Constitutional Court relating to the referendum on the water can only be welcomed because it gives greater clarity on several points. In fact, the repeal of the plant goodness we had imagined was confirmed in unequivocal terms both for the referendum that allowed non-eligible. From the first point of view, particularly important is the motivation which the Court allows us to pursue the repeal of the entire system Ronchi Decree. If he wins the "yes" not only the water service but also the local public transport, services, collection and disposal of waste and various other local services can be arranged with a wide variety of tools publicistic vocation or journalism. The odious obligation to sell a company for actions motivated by profit may be defeated, will open up new spaces for democratic and participatory management finally to what belongs to everyone. All this is in fullest harmony with European law. The motivation clearly exposes the deposited mixture of ignorance and arrogance of the positions to be proclaimed loudly and Ronchi Tremonti (both embarrassed, but especially the first, then the holder of the department of community affairs, was so unprepared for the basics of European law) and those with which Italy had slipped from the values \u200b\u200bof common struggle, arguing the same argument to the last government. The battle on the water is thus enriched with new allies and the notion of common goods, which the Court discusses for the first time in its history, is enhanced once new important collective activities. Also transport and waste, which are already subject to major civil rights battles against privatization, must be managed in logical label, owned and long term.
The Court also admitted the third question (repeal of return on capital) recognizes the crucial importance (ie sufficiency to its purpose) and no ambiguity. Remove the return on capital from the bills means in effect excluded from the profit motives acceptable in the management of the common good by definition, such as water. This should discourage private interest groups to make a water business.
Interesting are also the motivations of the referendum is not allowed. This is where it is found that a crucial step. We decided to present the second question (not without a thorough discussion among us writers) to caution, fearing that the repeal of 23 bis (first question) and could lead to. Article revival. 150 of the Environmental Code, that the same 23 aa had almost completely abrogated but that reproduces most of the structure on the model of management. Today the Constitutional Court clearly tells us that the revival will never occur and that in essence will be enough to win the first referendum for the effects of the victory of the latter. In a word, the Constitutional Court has given us a discount and, as he says authoritatively, the second referendum does not add anything to our system. Our caution was perhaps too much, but in any case that the Court has expressly ruled out the revival there in subsequent proceedings in the case of several proposals of interpretation. This alone justifies the effort that you have filled in another form.
Severa is instead the Court in respect of the question DiPietro. It will expose all the basic ambiguity, incomprehensible and contradictory statements. In fact, in an attempt (not in our opinion and according to the Court) to separate water from other services (given the 23 bis treats them together), Di Pietro was likely to make us even repeal the rules that make public good. And the Court tells him flatly. Unfortunately however the Court did not accept our proposal to align the Act Ronchi (the obligation to sell locks as known at the end of 2011) with the actual experiment of the referendum. Here is not that innovative courage that would have been justified by the need to give constitutional protection effectively to the common property. The Court should have delayed the requirement of a referendum held for sale, thereby, already through interpretation, that the moratorium on pursuing a political forum.
